Do remember that you have contact information in your media kit, which may include your home address (in case you do not have a PO box), email address, phone number and so on. When brands contact you for your media kit, remember that you do not know them from Adam. Always be mindful of who you give your media kit to that contains your personal contact information. This is why I highly recommend the use of a PO box instead of giving out your home address.

Do your research

Always research the person contacting you for a media kit before giving it out. Be wary of their email addresses if they come in an ISP or public email address like gmail.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com or bigpond.com. I am cautious of emails from PRs that come in non-professional email addresses and only respond to the ones I have worked with before who have to use an alternative email address in a pinch.
